Short Communication. Sodium chloride levels in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) fingerling feeds free of fish meal

Aim of study: To evaluate the effects increasing NaCl levels on zootechnical performance pacu fingerling. Area The experiments were conducted at Aquatic Organism Production and Reproduction Systems Laboratory belonging to Federal University Paraná (UFPR), in Palotina Sector, Estate, Brazil. Material methods: Seven hundred fifty fingerlings with an average weight 3.41 ± 0.09 g distributed circular boxes, a completely randomized design consisting six treatments five replications. Treatments comprised soybean- maize-based diets containing (0.00, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00 1.25%). for 50 days. At end experimental period fish fasted 24 hours, anesthetized, weighed measured calculate performances. Performance data subjected analysis variance followed by Tukey’s test when significant differences found between means (p<0.05). Main results: influence (p<0.05) dietary final weight, feed intake, apparent conversion, specific growth rate, gain, clean trunk production, head carcass yield, headless intake survival was assessed. results indicate that non-salt treated along 0.25% salt inclusion treatment led better use, as evidenced conversions 1.64 2.02, respectively. Research highlights: fingerling soybean is not recommended.
